Why does my heater smell bad or have odor?

Solution:

Heat chamber tilted or improperly seated. |
Move wire handle until heat chamber is propely seated and moves smoothly left and right. |
IWick is set too high. |
Reduce wick height by turning wick adjuster knob counterclockwise. |
Dirty wick. |
Clean wick as described above. Try dry burning a second time. If it is still not working properly, order a new wick. |
Why is my flame so high?
Cause:

Solution:

Fuel is contaminated with gasoline or other highly flammable material. |
IMMEDIATELY shut off heater. Inspect all components for damage. Drain fuel tank and rinse with fresh, clean kerosene. Install new wick and fill tank with fresh, clean 1-K kerosene. |
Wick is set too high. |
Remove wick and reinstall to correct height. |
Why is my heater flickering, dying or having a low flame?

Clean wick as described above. Try dry burning a second time. If it is still not working properly, order a new wick. |
IWater in fuel or poor quality kerosene. |
Drain tank. Install new wick. Refill with fresh, clean 1-K kerosene. |
Wick is too low to sustain a good flame. |
Remove wick and reinstall to correct height. |

Wrong wick. |

Why won't my wick ignite?

Out of fuel. |
Check fuel gauge, add fuel if necessary. |
Igniter coil fails to glow. |
Check wire connections. Replace batteries. Replace igniter coil, if necessary. |
Water in kerosene or poor quality kerosene. |
Drain tank. Install new wick. Refill with fresh, clean 1-K kerosene. |
